On March 2009, after two years trying to understand how a country like South Africa and especially a place like Cape Town had no proper Basketball structure in place with viable courts, proper administration and hype around the game, ABC had seen the day at TAFELEBERG High School.
African Basketball Community was created by Emmanuel MAVOMO a former Democratic Republic of Congo Basketball player who had found second home in South Africa. The idea behind ABC is to promote Basketball around Africa from a very young age. ABC believes firmly Basketball deserves a fair chance to grow over Angola and Mozambique and that every country in Africa should have a professional league. The only way to do it is to create hype around Basketball in schools and community and also link all the obsolete Basketball communities around the continent and get them to work together by exchanging data, player and more. ABC is motivation resides in kids that have to be given a fair chance to grow with the spirit of Basketball and one day wear their respective country colors, so we dedicate a lot of time on coaching clinics with various organizations and league players around schools and townships. ABC sets also as a goal to keep a level of rewarding competition in the Western Cape as a start by organizing tournament all through the year for both men and women from various age ranges. ABC will dedicate a team of photographers and data capturers around all Basketball events and clinics around the Western Cape and Africa at a larger scale to keep the audience and the players informed at all time.
One finger cannot wash the all faces so we believe in community work…..It starts by you!
